Selling The Ranch, Downsizing and Finding a Car
One of the things that always seems to come up in conversation is "where are you going to live?" Another is "what are you going to do with your stuff?" Both are very good questions, but as most of you know by now, we are living in our DRV Mobile Suites 5th wheel. Through God's grace and mercy we completed the process and hit the road.
Our first stop was to attend the HDT (Heavy Duty Truck) rally in Boise, Idaho. This was the first time we were able to attend one of these rally's and it didn't disappoint! There were 26 trucks there and a few folks that were curious and wanted to know more about towing with a HDT. We made many new friends and learned quite a bit.
Once we left Boise it was time to officially change our state of residence (since we didn't have a home anymore). We moved on to Rapid City, South Dakota and got our driver's licenses as well as completing the registration on our vehicles. It was a simple process, so we only stayed a few days and it was back on the road again.
We knew we wanted to haul a Smart car on the back of the truck, so we moved south to look at a few cars. Jim had been in contact with a private owner in Atlanta but we had never seen the car in person. We stopped at a Mercedes dealer just outside of St. Louis to view a car and it was in pretty good shape, but we really wanted to see the little red convertible in Atlanta, so we continued down the road. We arrived in Atlanta and called the owner. He had graciously taken the car off the market three weeks earlier telling us that he knew we were to be the new owners of this car! We fell in love with the car right away and quickly became good friends with the owner and his family. We think it looks pretty good on the back of the truck!
